Meet our newest Groundwater Technichians

Lens and Tyreese are our newest groundwater technichians, who now, four months after starting at Hölscher Jensen have become fully ingrained in the team and both are crucial people to help us stay on track on our projects. We are quite excited about having them onboard, which of course means we took the time to have a little talk and find out more about them and how lifes coincidences brought them to us.

Tyreese

At 19 years old, Tyreese is our youngest employee, who joined the team end of August. He was busy with his second sabbatical year after high school, but boredom was increasing – so when the opportunity to try out new and exciting tasks was offered, he luckily said yes. He has quickly become a valued part of the team with his calm demeanor and confident approach, which he manages to maintain in our hectic everyday life.

The Nordhavnstunnel is so far the only project he has been involved in, where he has been given a full training in the many different tasks included in his new role. These days, his primary task is drilling together with Yves, where he enjoys having nice colleagues to work with – making even long days feel like they have flown by. It is a bit ironic that Tyreese has chosen a job where he always works outside, because he is ALWAYS freezing! But that was not considered, when he accepted the job in the heat of summer. Fortunately, we are good at finding solutions, and with the many works in progress – even he has been spotted without a jacket in November 😉

His free time is mainly spent with friends, and then he is also a frequent visitor at the hairdresser – because Tyreese always has his hair braided in the most amazing designs. Tyreese’s naturally curly hair gives him associations to Jackson Five and an era that is not really him, so he turned that into an opportunity to do something different. Cornrows, as the type of braids he has are called – is a hairstyle he shares with many others, but his unique choice of designs definitely makes him stand out a bit more.

Tyreese’s curious approach to trying new things also means that we already have to say goodbye to him in April – as he has chosen to serve his military service, and experience what daily lifein the army looks like. We fully support his plan to explore his future possibilities elsewhere, although we of course hope he joins us again in the future.
The picture of Tyreese was chosen solely because the photographer arrived a bit after the workday started, and although work clothes are made to get dirty – he could not be persuaded to have his face associated with the muddy clothes. Of course we respected the young man’s style standard – and thank Hütte for contributing to a good picture.

Lens

Lens started his new career as a groundwater technician at Hölscher Jensen mid-August, and besides a few visits to our project at Damhusåens Renseanlæg – most of his time so far has been at Nordhavnstunellen. Lucky for us, he is a proactive person and a fast learner – and his main tasks with well development (clear pumping and acid treatment), has helped immensely in managing our tight schedule.

Before joining our team, he had a career as a professional basketball player – an opportunity that finally presented itself when he was 19, and the choice of saying goodbye to his sports science studies was an easy one to make. His professional status was already solidified by then, because at 18 he was chosen to represent the Comoros National Team where he had his official debut the following year, for the 2019 Indian Ocean Olympics in Mauritius. Professional basketball has moved Lens across mainland France until 2022, when he was offered an opportunity playing in Mayotte – one of the 18 French overseas regions. As it has happened to others before him, love struck – and in 2023 he officially said farewell to his professional club career and moved to Denmark – to Frankrigsgade (Frenchstreet) of all places.

Outside of Hölscher Jensen he is a busy man, and besides family life with his girlfriend and her two daughters – he coaches U10-U14 teams at HBBF, offers individual basket coaching privately and is also a part of the Hvidovre men’s team. As he is still a part of the Comoros National Team, we as a company need to be a bit flexible at times, so he can attend the training camps preparing the team for the AfroBasket qualifier – starting in 2025. Following that, the teams next goal is the 2027 Indian Ocean Olympics hosted by their home nation Comoros.

With Lens onboard our team – we think we might have the industry’s most diverse team in terms of previous work experience, encompassing a broad range of craftsmanship backgrounds, chefs, autodidacts and professional sports. Our conclusion has to be – all roads lead to Hölscher Jensen.
